The Croatian-American Foundation for Education and Training aims to connect Croatia with the wealth of learning opportunities that are offered at institutions of higher education in the United States. Its main purpose is to ensure that there are scholarships available to Croatian citizens to study at distinguished academic programs in the United States. By helping meet the considerable study and living costs at competitive U.S. institutions, we provide access to world-class education for promising individuals from Croatia who demonstrate excellence and leadership qualities necessary to shape Croatia’s future. We strive to identify and support individuals who upon their return from academic study will have a positive influence in fields that are critical to the country’s social and economic progress.
Founded in September 2009 by the Institute for the Development of Education (IDE), the Foundation represents a much-needed institutional framework which can strengthen and increase the existing exchange of knowledge and skills between Croatia and the United States. Its purpose of developing and widening scholarship programs for study in the United States opens doors for new partnerships with institutions and individuals interested in investing in the future of Croatia. We invite everyone who values education and recognizes the importance of strengthening linkages between Croatia and the United States to support us in our efforts.
The Foundation is governed by representatives of the Croatian and American business community, the Croatian academic community, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, and its founder, the Institute for the Development of Education. It is the result of a partnership between the Institute for the Development of Education and the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb in strengthening educational exchange between Croatia and the United States.
