The founding of the Croatian American Foundation for Education and Training’s was inspired by the need to establish a scholarship program which would support Croatian citizens in attending Master’s-level study at distinguished U.S. universities. Scholarships for Master’s study were previously funded and administered by our generous partner, the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb. The program demonstrated the value of exposing young leaders in Croatia to advanced-degree education in the United States. Notable for their academic rigor, relevance, diversity, engaging teaching methods, learning inside and outside of the classroom and transmission of a global outlook, Master’s degree programs provide an enriching and transformational experience for students who are preparing to assume leadership positions in their profession. As evident in the accomplishments of the network of Fulbright, Ron Brown and other Croatian alumni of U.S. universities, such education helps to develop leaders who are able to meet the cross-sectoral challenges and demands presented by careers in government, business, education and civil society.
The scholarship program of the Croatian-American Foundation for Education and Training, the Fellowship for the Future, enables deserving individuals in Croatia to continue to benefit from valuable educational experiences in the United States which will help them carry out leadership roles in Croatia.
By enabling access to top education for future leaders and connecting them with a diverse and dedicated global network of fellow practitioners at U.S. academic programs, the Croatian-American Foundation for Education and Training plays a role in social and economic development – helping to bring new ideas and innovative approaches in addressing the challenges that Croatia faces in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration.
