Message from the Director

We live in fast-paced times which require that societies be able to adapt quickly and innovate in order to prosper. But many of the world’s economies are not able to reach the level of progress of the developed world. They are still struggling to provide adequate basic services to their citizens, including health, infrastructure, education and rule of law.

In Croatia, we find ourselves in what may be considered, in global terms, a solid position – on the cusp of overcoming the burdens of the past and realizing our full potential. Yet, we are still short of taking off and slow in implementing lasting change that would fundamentally improve our society and develop our economy.

The work of the Croatian-American Foundation for Education and Training is founded in a firm belief that there is one way to help: empowering individuals through education. Education is, in the long-run, one of the single most important investments we can make as a society to ensure prosperity.

There lies in every person the potential to change the world for the better. Those who aspire to contribute to their community and are given the opportunity to realize their goals can have a powerful positive impact on society – by way of the number of people they have affected, or the good example they set through their efforts, or even by way of a small seed they planted for something bigger which is yet to come.

It is with this hope in mind that our Foundation aims to connect Croatia’s young leaders with the best educational opportunities in the world and thereby equip them with the knowledge, confidence and inspiration to make a difference in our country.
